Blackout Delays Calls To Vietnam A temporary security blackout on calls to Vietnam Saturday caused a delay in the planned hookup between U.S. Air Force Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS) stations in Vietnam and the MARS station at Scott Air Force Base near St.
Louis, Mo. Some 211 women had signed up with the base to talk to sons and husbands stationed in Vietnam over a special hookup the base had planned. Officials at the base said that the calls will be placed as soon as the security ban is lifted. Area families had been invited to talk with their servicemen in Southeast Asia as part of the base's 50th anniversary celebration. About 125,000 persons toured the base during its open house Saturday, The Scott MARS station was complete 34 calls to Thailand and Taiwan servicemen.

Stanley president of the Home-0-Nize firm, said the Georgia site had been purchased for future expansion. No target date has been set for initial production in the new plant. Howe said Muscatine will continue to be headquarters for the company and there will be no reduction in facilities here.
